Within Arms Reach Project - Building a school for 7th,8th, and 9th graders in Northern Rakhine State in Burma/Myanmar. The Rakhine State is one of the most remote, poorest, and most heavily populated areas of the country. The region is prone to natural disasters including cyclones, storms, floods, and mudslides. It is facing severe humanitarian needs such as low income, constant malnutrition, and very weak infrastructure.

The location of the project - Northern Rakhine State located near "The Bay of Bengal," the largest bay in the world. The BOB forms the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean. Roughly triangular in shape, it is bordered mostly by India and Sri Lanka to the west, Bangladesh to the north, and Burma (Myanmar) and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the east.

The three main goals that we have collaboratively established are: (1) to create a classroom that inspires curious learners, (2) to utilize local materials and passive energy strategies in order to leave a small carbon footprint as possible, and (3) to implement and encourage safe building practices.

Within Arms Reach is made up of enthusiastic individuals giving their time, energy, love, and life away to make a difference in the world.

We always operate on a firm budget, with very few staff and hundreds of resilient volunteers. Our primary budgets are simply designed to fund the projects.
