The Children of House of Imported Hearts

All this week we’ll share profiles of the children benefiting from our partnership with House of Imported Hearts and the development of an orphanage in Indonesia. We hope this window into the lives of orphaned children will give you a better understanding of the project and our efforts to raise money to support their education and future. Click here for more information on the project.

Each day for the next week we’ll feature a child: their picture and their words. We begin with Andre, a 7-year-old boy with a bit of an entrepreneurial streak.

“Now I’m in 1st grade of elementary school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia,” Andre writes. “I came from Surabaya on December 2011. I have 2 little sisters, they’re living with my mom. My dad passed away long time ago. So because my family is poor, my mom took me to my grandfather’s home and left me there. My grandfather is a pedicab driver but soon he got sick and lost his job. He can’t take care of me anymore. But I’m so lucky and I’m so happy now I can live in Yogyakarta, and going to school. When I grow up, I wanna own a lot of big buses and big trucks, so I can make my own business.”
